Low Flyers
Just got back from Grafters, the local watch-the-local-game-and-drink-the-local-beer place. As a news flash to the folks that might be reading this, the cricket world cup is going on right now and is quite a big event in some of Englands other former colonies. Anyway, South Africa, who were among the favorites going into the World Cup, just got beaten (actually spanked like red-headed stepchildren) by Australia. So there was much sadness at Grafters, at least at the other tables. Our mostly American table got over it much quicker. We swiftly moved our focus to a hearty farewell to Steve (headed to Guinea) and a birthday cheer for Marie (29 again). There were many pints to be raised and clinked and a couple of Wild Turkeys (known locally, or at least at Grafters, as Low Flyers) to be sipped or just slung back. So if there are any gramatical errors in this posting, I shall blame the bird that Benjamin Franklin wanted to be our national symbol - the turkey.
